This design began as part of a collection of yoga animals inspired by my love of mindfulness, yoga and the natural world. The yoga bee quickly became one of my favourite illustrations in the series because of its calm, playful energy.

About the Design

This little yoga bee started as a painting I created for my friend Katie, who absolutely loves bees. At the time, I was feeling really inspired to create a collection of animals practicing yoga poses, combining two things I’ve always loved: nature and yoga.

The collection began with a fox in a forward fold pose, followed by other animals including a sloth, bird, butterfly, hippo and lizard, all inspired by different yoga poses and personalities. The yoga bee became one of my favourite illustrations in the series.

I originally painted the bee as a birthday gift for Katie because she loves both art and yoga, and the original painting still hangs on her wall today. I never originally planned to turn the illustration into clothing, but after sharing it online, so many people connected with the calm and playful nature of the design that I decided to create wearable versions too.
