How Commissions Work

Madeleine creates personal watercolour commissions from favourite photos, memories and meaningful places. Whether you are ordering a watercolour pet portrait, a dog portrait from photo, a pub illustration or another custom piece, the process is simple, thoughtful and handled with care from start to finish.

1. Choose your commission

Start by choosing the commission product that best fits what you would like. Select your preferred size and framing option, then add any important details at checkout.

2. Upload your reference photo

For photo-based commissions, please upload a clear reference image on the product page before adding the item to your basket. Bright, well-lit photos work best, especially where the face, eyes or important details are easy to see.

If you are unsure which photo to use, or you would like to include more than one subject, please contact Madeleine before ordering. She can help you choose the strongest reference for the artwork.

3. Madeleine paints your artwork

Once your order and reference image have been received, Madeleine will create your commission by hand using her expressive ink and watercolour style. Each piece is painted with care, focusing on character, feeling and the small details that make the subject special.

4. Your commission is carefully packed and posted

When your artwork is complete, it will be carefully packed and sent from the UK. Delivery options and costs are shown at checkout.

• For pet portraits, photos taken at eye level often work beautifully.
