Hello, I’m Madeleine, the artist behind Green Fox Illustration. I create ink and watercolour artwork inspired by animals, nature, folklore, feeling and the little moments of magic that often go unnoticed.

My work is full of character, softness and soul. I’m drawn to creatures with personality, wild places, quiet details, old stories and the emotional connection people have with animals, homes and meaningful places. Whether I’m painting a fox, a bear, a much-loved dog, a pub, a flower or a yoga animal, I want the finished piece to feel alive in its own gentle way.

The Green Fox style

Green Fox Illustration combines expressive ink lines with layered watercolour washes. I love the way watercolour can feel delicate, unpredictable and full of movement, while ink adds definition, detail and character.

Each piece begins by hand, with real paint, real paper and plenty of careful observation. Some artworks become prints, cards, mugs, tea towels, posters and gifts, while others remain one-of-a-kind originals.

Inspired by animals, nature and folklore

Animals are at the heart of much of my work. Foxes, bears, birds, dogs and other creatures appear often, each with their own expression and personality. I’m also inspired by plants, seasons, old stories, symbolism, mysticism and the feeling of being close to the natural world.

There is often a little bit of magic in a Green Fox piece — not loud or obvious, but quiet, earthy and full of feeling.

Commissions and personal artwork

Alongside prints and gifts, I create personal watercolour commissions from favourite photos, memories and meaningful places. These include pet portraits, dog portraits from photos, pub illustrations, home portraits and bespoke artwork ideas.

Commission work is always special because it carries someone’s story. I love creating artwork that celebrates a beloved animal, a favourite place, a thoughtful gift or a memory worth keeping.
